The other name of hibiscus is rose mallow, rose of Sharon, and hardy hibiscus. Both the annual and perennial plants are present in the genus. The hibiscus is nothing but a woody shrub or small trees. Althaea Officinalis is the generic name of the hibiscus. The term hibiscus is taken from the Greek name ibiskos.

Hibiscus is a shrub plant. The primary plantation of hibiscus is for ornamental and for medicinal purposes. Hibiscus has high medicinal value. The hibiscus flower is used for hair treatments. The species Hibiscus syriacus and Hibiscus rosa-Sinensis are mostly planted for ornamental purposes. Hibiscus also has various color ranges. The hibiscus flowers are used for making tea which is served both hot and cold. The tea is red with a tart flavor which is rich in vitamin C.

The Hibiscus plant has alternate leaves. the flowers are large and attractive. The flowers have five petals in different colors. It is available in white, pink, red, orange, blue, peach, yellow and purple. The fruit of the hibiscus plant is a five-lobed capsule. The fruit is present in white and red colors. Hibiscus flowers are an example of complete flowers. There are about six hundred seventy-nine species are available on the earth.

Another species called Hibiscus sabdariffa is highly used in the preparation of beverages. Hibiscus plants have high medicinal values and are widely used for medicinal treatments. 

Main Differences Between Rose and Hibiscus

  1. The pollen grains are present on the inner side of the petals of a rose, whereas the pollen grains are present in an extended stigma.
  2. Rose plants have outgrowth in the epidermis, whereas hibiscus has no outgrowth in the epidermis.
  3. Rose plants grow well in organic matter, whereas hibiscus plants grow well in tropical conditions.
  4. Rose flowers increase bile production, whereas hibiscus flowers treat heart and nerve diseases.
  5. When compared to rose flowers, hibiscus flowers have large petals.
